The Legacy of Family Bonds
The story begins with my niece, who has always been more like a daughter to me. Her nickname, Poppy, carries a special place in our hearts. It was she, alongside our grandfather, who had the honor of inaugurating the shop — two generations standing side by side, marking the beginning of something meaningful.
Our Grandfather's Sacrifice
Our grandfather’s journey is one of sacrifice and love. At just 17, he joined the British Indian Army — later the Indian Army — driven by the desire to provide a better life for his family. Through his hard work and dedication, he not only improved the standard of living for his siblings but also created opportunities for future generations. His legacy is the foundation of who we are today. If it weren’t for his courage to serve and create a path for us, we wouldn’t have this opportunity. The name Poppy honors the soldier — the symbol of sacrifice — who made everything possible.
A Final Connection
In 2021, we lost our beloved mother to COVID. As we visited her in the chapel of rest, we noticed that each room was named after a flower. It was as though the universe was giving us a sign — our mother was in the Poppy room. The coincidence felt like her way of approving the name, as if she too was guiding us toward it.
